I grew up in rural Wisconsin on a small farm. My backyard was approximately 145 acres. For pets I had cats(my favorite!), dogs, horses, calves, and pigs. I spent most of my younger years outdoors. My mother told me stories of how she struggled to keep me inside after the sun set. In desperation, she told me that coyotes eat little children who play outside, in the dark, while their mommy and daddy sleep. Coyotes were abundant in my neck of the woods...making this story terrifying! To this day, a chill runs up my back when I hear a coyote howl in the distance.
After high school, I went to school for Wildlife Ecology. I completed 5 semesters before I packed up all of my belongings and moved to Maine. I guess the far north was calling and I couldn't resist its glorious wilderness. When you enter into Maine, the first thing you will see is a sign stating that Maine is The Way Life Should Be. I agree with this statement; many of the locals I've met live off of the earth and respect the land. While in Maine, I acquired an associate's degree in Adventure Recreation and Tourism.
I graduated in May 2010 and moved back to Wisconsin that following winter. Some day soon, I hope to become part of the tourism industry. I have my sights set on something but it's a secret...I don't want to jinx it!
